Steve Tool

The Steve Tool by Graber’s Pottery creates lots of raw texture on thrown or hand built work. This tool comes with ten texture wheels and a series of nuts and bolts, which allow you to interchange the wheels. The wheels are made of a sturdy plastic, as is the tool handle. You can use the Steve Tool with one single wheel or up to all ten. The same Steve Tool can be configured into many variant designs by rearranging the disks over the shaft in assorted patterns. Try out different combinations to achieve distinctive textures on your pots.

After you have assembled the tool into a combination you are happy with, simply roll the texture wheels along moist clay. You’ll see how the texture becomes part of the pottery! You’ll be inspired to try other effects from texture work. You can use this tool in combination with other surface decoration techniques as well. For example, try filling in the texture with underglaze or slip, then trim smooth at the leather hard stage.

The Steve Tool handle measures 6″ in length and 1″ diameter. The wheels each measure 2″ across. The tool is lightweight, easy to clean, store, assemble and disassemble.
