Frequently Asked Questions regarding Shipping
Q: I put in my order, but it didn’t tell me how much shipping would be. What’s wrong?
A: Nothing is wrong! Our website software does not calculate shipping on its own; each order is reviewed by a real person who is trained to find the best rate for your particular shipment. Your payment information will be processed manually after the price is determined.
Q: How can I estimate the cost of shipping before ordering?
A: Shipping and handling is determined primarily by weight. In general, the lighter the item, the less you will pay for shipping. For small tool or glaze orders, expect a charge of $7-$20*. For heavy items (such as a box of clay) expect a minimum of $22-$40. Multiple boxes will be charged individually (we have a 50 lb weight limit per box).
For shipments weighing more than about 200 lbs, we will switch from using UPS or US Mail and employ a freight company to make the delivery by pallet. We have a special pallet rate of $102.00 in Nashville, and $120.00 for Knoxville, Memphis, and Chattanooga. For locations in KY, AL and MS the pallet rate is $140.00, Indiana $145.00 and Georgia $160.00. Other locations should expect a minimum charge of $150.

Q: What if I’m concerned about the expense of shipping?
A: You can request to be informed of shipping charges before we process your payment by simply writing out your request in the “order notes” section of the order form. Our shipping specialist will email you a total and give you the option of accepting the charges or canceling the order. We don’t do this with every order, so make sure you request this service if you need it!
Q: Is it possible to pick up my order in person instead of having it shipped?
A: Yes! All you need to do is check the box labeled “Local Pickup” in the shipping section of the order form. It’s also helpful to write us a note in the order notes section letting us know when you plan to be at our store. Please give us at least 2 business days notice to receive and prepare your online order—if you need to pick up your items within a very short time frame, place your order by phone instead.
Q: What shipping companies do you use?
A: We use UPS Ground, US Mail, and various trucking companies, all dependent on shipment size and the best rates available. We do not ship via FedEx.
Q: Can I pay with a purchase order number instead of a credit card?
A: We welcome purchase orders from schools, universities, and approved businesses, but any order not being paid with a credit card needs to be submitted to us by fax (615-244-3191), email attachment, or over the phone (615-242-0300).
